25th October 2014 - Top Ten finish for Andy at Silverstone in 6 hour race
On Saturday 25th October Andy joined Fergus Walkinshaw / Ryan Connolly (Ginetta G55 Supercup) and Patrick Mortell (Rogue Xenon) in the Rogue All-Stars team for the annual 750 Motor Club 6 hour Birkett Relay race at Silverstone GP circuit.
Despite some harsh handicapping which precluded realistically a class trophy before the race even started, Andy and the team were happy to finish in 8th overall from a field of 70(!) teams in the 'scratch' race.
The respectable finish is put into context with Andy and the guys beaten only by some serious hardware largely in the form of Radicals, Sakers, Spires and Mallocks.
Here's the Top Ten summary from Autosport Magazine:
26th September 2014 - Track day with Andy raises £650 for Childrens Charity
Once again the BRDC clubhouse at Silverstone Circuit was the venue for another highly-anticipated evening of motorsport, dinner and raising money for the incredibly deserving Little Havens Childrens Hospice in Essex
The guest of honour and speaker this time was none other than Porsche LMP1 driver and all-round likeable chap, Mark Webber.
In previous years Andy has contributed to a number of collectable items for auction. However this time was slightly different with Andy putting a track day with instruction with himself at the test facility at Lotus Cars in Norfolk up for grabs.
The bidding went much better than anticipated with the winning bid topping out at £650.
Napier Racing would like to extend its thanks and ongoing support to auction organiser Michael Hipperson, Mark Webber & Ann Neal and the amazing staff at Little Havens for a superb evening.
Mark was also kind enough to autograph a photograph of his #20 Porsche 919 taken at the WEC race at Silverstone for the wall of the Napier Racing workshop.
20th September 2014 : Disaster strikes at Donington!
For the third year in succession...
After a few months off at the start of the 2014 season (due to complications with Championship rules around Andy's ARDS Instructor status) September was to see a return to the track for Napier Racing at Donington.
Donington Park is a favourite circuit of Andy's for Test and Trackdays - but has not yielded particularly good luck in competition! Two seasons ago the teams S1 Elise ('61') suffered totally unforeseen headgasket failure there. Then in 2013 Andy very nearly cost himself the Lotus Cup title spinning on debris at the GP loop chicane minutes before the end of the race whilst comfortably in P3.
Sadly the curse of Donny continued when just 14 minutes into free practice, our No.1 Engine suffered a crank bearing failure.
Luckily a very sharp-eared Andy (who makes a specific point of doing the 1st practice session of the day with no earplugs in for this very reason) heard the onset of the bearing knocking - and managed to halt the lap and save the engine from total destruction.
Back once again to the drawing board...
